Also known as Mt. Hood Pussypaws.  Another variety Cystanthe Monosperma is also found in Oregon (though not as much in the Cascades) and the two are difficult to distinguish.  According to Elizabeth Horn in Wildflowers 1: The Cascades, these plants roots can travel up to 10 ft underground!
