Fireweed (Epilobium angustifolium)

Five Mile Camp, North Cascades N.P., 8/2012.
Named for their propensity to grow in recently burned areas. The young shoots can be eaten like asparagus. Deer and elk feed on this plant, and, when visited by bees, it is said to make excellent honey. Cascade asters are in the background above.
