Grass Widow (Sisyrinchium douglasii var. douglasii)

Coyote Wall Trail, Columbia Gorge, WA, 3/2014.
A member of the Iris family, this is closely related to Blue-Eyed Grass. The “widow” in the name relates to the flowers’ bent over posture, as if in mourning. On a late-March hike up Coyote Wall, these were everywhere.
