Small-flowered Godetia (Clarkia purpurea)

Looking very much like its better know relative Farewell-to-spring (Clarkia amoena), Clarkia purpurea can be distinguished by its lack of red spots in each of its four pink to lavender petals.  It is also found across a larger range reaching up into mid-elevations. Both can be found in profusion on sunny grasslands in mid-summer, as shown in our last photo.
