Broad-leaf Lupine (Lupinus latifolius)
Lost Pass, Olympic NP. 8/2010.
All Lupines share the easily identifiable palmate leaf. Particular lupine species are notoriously difficult to identify. The Broad-leaf (latifolius) is known for turning the sub-alpine meadows blue in the summer, as we found these in the dreamy flower-strewn Lost Valley deep in Olympic National Park.
